Karine Locatelli is a French conductor of italian origin. With a strong focus on opera, vocal, and symphonic repertoire, she brings over 15 years of experience at the Opera de Lyon. She works regularly with leading european institutions including The Royal Danish Opera house, Le Chœur de Radio France, Nederlandse Reisopera, L'Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire, Le Chœur Accentus, l'Opéra de Lyon, l'Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse.
Her upcoming events include the opening concert featuring Chichester Psalms with Chœur de Radio France in Paris. She will conduct La Fille de Madame Angot at Opera de Lyon next December.
In recent seasons, Locatelli has been involved in notable projects such as the Danish premiere of Bent Sorensen's Asle og Alida, the French premiere of Tan Dun's Requiem for Nature, and Giorgio Battistelli's 7 Minuti, Stravinsky's L' Histoire du Soldat with actor Guillaume Marquet.
Her accolades include the Jury's Special Prize at the Blue Danube / Béla Bartok International Opera Conducting Competition (Bulgaria 2021), conducting Mozart's Don Giovanni, Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle.
